Unplugged Cabins

A network of off-grid cabins designed to reconnect you to nature through time away from technology.

We partnered with Unplugged to transform their approach to cabin production from a predominantly hand-built process to a digitally driven manufacturing system offering greater certainty in cost and performance while retaining the design flexibility needed to work across diverse sites. 

Through a process of collaborative prototyping, we developed four customisable typologies, allowing individual cabins to be configured in response to orientation, landscape, and setting. By migrating existing designs to a digital grid system optimised for 8x4ft sheets of 18mm OSB, we created a near-zero-waste superstructure that could be assembled by two people in a day, achieving a 17% cost saving over previous cabin producers. 

It’s our first fully volumetric project, with every aspect of construction happening offsite. We designed and manufactured all interior elements, applying the principles of our timber cassette system to furniture to create a truly scalable and sustainable approach to cabin production.

Each cabin is complete and ready to ship in 10 days, arriving at its destination fully prepared to connect to the water supply and welcome guests from the very first evening.
