The blokbuild construction system is a digitally enabled, offsite timber construction system that uses CNC technology in controlled factory environments to provide adaptable, efficient and creative solutions for the built environment.
Our fully integrated build system is formed of structural floor, wall and roof ‘cassettes’, compatible with a wide range of foundation types and capable of building upto three storeys. Each cassette is made from structural OSB 3 / 4 engineered board and insulated with semi-rigid mineral wool as part of off-site factory assembly, or on-site using a range of blow-fill insulation. Cavity size/cassette depth can be varied to meet the performance standards required. Thoroughly quality checked at every stage of the process, cassettes are then palletised for sequenced dispatch to site.
We created the blokbuild construction system to provide an easy to adopt, easy to adapt, clear, safe and quick way of realising the visions of architects and engineers. Our appetite for innovation and capacity for rapid prototyping mean that our system is continually evolving. With each new project, new cassettes designs are rigorously tested before being added to our system library, in turn expanding the possibilities for our network of collaborators.
Our system is now used for a wide range of architectural structures, including bespoke builds, type-housing, PassivHaus, permitted development projects and extensions to traditional buildings.
With design innovation comes the need for quality assurance. Blokbuild is currently in the process of accreditation to the Build Off-site Property Assurance Scheme (BOPAS), a risk-based evaluation which demonstrates to funders, lenders, valuers and purchasers that homes built from non-traditional methods and materials will stand the test of time for at least 60 years. Our accreditation scope covers all aspects of project delivery, from design through to manufacture and construction.
